Craig Gillespie in Talks to Direct Cruella de Vil Movie for Disney

The I, Tonya director is eyeing his next gig.

Deadline reports that Craig Gillespie is in early talks at Disney to direct the live-action Cruella, the mean and fur coat coveting antagonist of  101 Dalmatians. The infamous character was first seen in the 1961 animated classic 101 Dalmatians and in 1996 she was portrayed by Glenn Close in the hugely successful 1996 live-action film.

According to the report, Gillespie will replace the previously announced Alex Timbers who was the first choice to direct following the Mozart of the Jungle co-creator’s scheduling issues.

Emma Stone is set to star as the dog-hating villain Cruella De Vil in what is being billed as an origin story, set in the early 1980s. The film is produced by Andrew Gunn, Kristin Burr, and Marc Platt.
