Diego Luna to Star in “Star Wars Rogue One” Prequel Series

Disney is working on another Star Wars television project for their upcoming streaming service. The studio announced that a Star Wars Rogue One prequel series is in development with the production scheduled to start next year.

The project will star Diego Luna, who will reprise his role of rebel spy Cassian Andor from 2016’s Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

“Going back to the Star Wars universe is very special for me,” said Luna in a statement. “I have so many memories of the great work we did together and the relationships I made throughout the journey. We have a fantastic adventure ahead of us, and this new exciting format will give us the chance to explore this character more deeply.”

According to Disney’s statement, this series will be a “rousing spy thriller” that will “explore tales filled with espionage and daring missions to restore hope to a galaxy in the grip of a ruthless Empire.”

Besides Star Wars Rogue One prequel series, Disney is developing several other Star Wars project at the moment including another television series The Mandalorian, which is helmed by Jon Favreau. Both series will debut on Disney’s streaming service, now known as Disney+, which will launch in late 2019 in the US.
