“A Discovery of Witches” Renewed for Seasons 2 and 3

Here’s some magical news!

A Discovery of Witches has scored a two-series renewal following its season 1 finale in the UK, well ahead of its US premiere. The renewal was officially confirmed by Sky One via its official Twitter, “MAGICAL NEWS: We’re absolutely thrilled to announce @ADiscoveryOfWTV Series 2 AND 3 have both been confirmed!! So there’ll be plenty more of THIS to look forward to.”

The supernatural drama will continue with at least two more seasons. A Discovery of Witches premiered in the UK on Sky One on September 14 and enjoyed an enormous viewership.

The series is based on Deborah Harkness’ All Souls trilogy of books (A Discovery Of Witches, Shadow Of Night and The Book Of Life). It follows the story of Diana Bishop (Teresa Palmer), a scholar at Oxford who also happens to be a descendant of the Salem witches as she enters a forbidden romance with a 1,500-year-old vampire Matthew Clairmont (Matthew Goode). The two’s love puts them on a dangerous path that has the potential to upset the order of all things magical.

“The writers are already hard at work to produce scripts so that we can cast and shoot season 2 next year. Elizabethan London, here we come!” Harkness wrote in a Facebook post. “Thank you to all our loyal viewers on the UK and territories covered by HBO Europe. Now we pass the baton to viewers in Spain, Portugal, New Zealand, Australia and the US who will be seeing the show in the next few months.”
