Disney recently announced many news concerning their future and one of the most exciting ones is related to the future of its beloved animated franchises. Toy Story, Frozen, and Zootopia will all soon be getting sequels, according to Disney CEO Bob Iger.

Iger announced the sequels during the Q1 earnings call, following some sour news about budget cuts and thousands of layoffs at Disney parks.

“I’m so pleased to announce that we have sequels in the works from our animation studios to some of our most popular franchises. We’ll have more to share about these productions soon, but this is a great example of how we’re leaning into our unrivaled brands and franchises,” said Iger.

Pixar’s Toy Story franchise earned Disney $3.03 billion at the global box office so far, with Toy Story 4 alone grossing $1.07 billion in 2019. The spinoff Lightyear was released in June last year, but it struggled to find the financial and critical success of the original franchise.

As for Frozen, the sequel to the original movie came out in 2019, grossing $1.45 billion. The sequel to Zootopia was a long time coming, and fans have been asking for it ever since this movie came out in 2016 and went on to win an Oscar for the best animated feature.
