Disney Plotting “Pirates of the Caribbean” Reboot

Pirates of the Caribbean is one of the most successful franchises of all time, but it seems the studio behind it is getting ready to press the reset button. Disney is exploring the option of rebooting the whole series with a completely new team.

Studio executives have recently met with Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, the masterminds behind Deadpool. Before writing the films about Marvel’s edgy superhero, this screenwriting duo gave us the delightful horror comedy Zombieland.

Their schedule seems jam-packed right now since they’re busy working on a sequel of the hit zombie movie and developing a script for action flick 6 Underground, starring Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds.

This team definitely has what it takes to breathe a new life into Pirates Of The Caribbean, but it’s still unclear why Disney wants to go down this road. The last few movies in the franchise didn’t do great with the critics, but they were success stories from a financial standpoint.

We’re yet to find out if this reboot will be a total overhaul of the franchise or a soft continuation from the previous films. It’s also unclear if Johnny Depp will return to the role of rum-loving pirate Jack Sparrow.
