Disney To Be Only Studio to Hit $6 Billion at Global Box Office – Twice

Expectations are high as Walt Disney Studios is expected to cross $6 billion mark at the 2017 worldwide box office. Giving the Studios’ its final push is of course the mega-hit film Star Wars: The Last Jedi. 

According to estimates, the Disney-Lucasfilm’s most recent installment of the Star Wars franchise is also going to reach the amazing milestone of $110 million in North America over Christmas weekend.

Disney topped the $5 billion mark worldwide on November 30 with Thor: Ragnarok. That made the studio the first ever to have reached this threshold for three consecutive years.

Its final release of 2017 — Star Wars: The Last Jedi, opened globally on December 15. The ninth Star Wars movie debuted with a $220 million opening weekend domestically. At the worldwide box office the film as already grossed $610.5 million in its first week.

There’s no doubt 2017 has been a good year for Disney when it comes to hitting outstanding box office records. Now that it acquired 21st Century Fox for a whopping $52.4 billion is seems that Disney will be an undisputed contender grossing big numbers in future box office.
