People around the globe watched the World Cup final in hopes they’ll see an epic football match they’ll never forget. Same can’t be said about the fans of Doctor Who. They simply tuned in to see an amazing new promo for the upcoming season of their favorite TV show.
The main reason why there was so much buzz surrounding this teaser was the debut of the 13th Doctor. Jodie Whittaker was cast in the role about a year ago, and some backlash followed. Small, but vocal group expressed their disdain after Broadchurch star became the first woman to ever play the titular role. The actress encouraged them to keep an open mind and not be scared of her gender.
“This is a really exciting time, and Doctor Who represents everything that’s exciting about change. The fans have lived through so many changes, and this is only a new, different one, not a fearful one,” said Whittaker.
New teaser didn’t reveal much, but it gave fans what they needed – a first glimpse at what’s yet to come. The three new companions can be seen going about their everyday lives before the new Doctor enchants them with her time-twisting magic. They will be played by Tosin Cole, Mandip Gill and Bradley Walsh, when the new season of Doctor Who premiers this fall.
