The Eagles Sue Hotel California

The Eagles have sued the owners of a hotel in Mexico for using the name “Hotel California”, the band’s most famous song, without their permission.

Besides naming the hotel as the ultra-popular song, the hotel owners have allegedly played the song in the hallways, sold the t-shirts and other merch, and basically did whatever they could in order to make the guests believe the hotel is associated with the band.

The complaint read: “Defendants lead U.S. consumers to believe that the Todos Santos Hotel is associated with the Eagles and, among other things, served as the inspiration for the lyrics in ‘Hotel California,’ which is false.”

The band noted that the ‘original’ Hotel California Baja LLC has applied with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to register the Hotel California name.
