Ed Sheeran dedicates song to baby girl named after him

During his concert in Miami, Florida on Wednesday, the 26-year-old Ed Sheeran heard someone speaking to him from the crowd. The voices belonged to Rocky Smith and Harmony Smith, who came to the concert with their 1-year-old baby named Cooper Sheeran.

From the crowd they introduced, the “Shape of You” singer to their baby girl, telling him their daughter was named after him. In return, the singer asked from the stage to confirm her middle name, and added: “I’ve never seen a baby this calm at a concert. Just chilling there for the whole thing and you guys have been loud, you’re singing and she’s just kinda like … I love babies!”

Sheeran decided to dedicate his song “Dive” to Cooper, asking the crowd to sing along, telling them to be as loud as it can, “[c]ause she’s gonna be chill.”

Rocky told People.com that his daughter has been “listening to him [Sheeran] since before she was born. We had speakers that we could attach to my wife’s stomach where I would play his songs for her.”
