Acclaimed director Todd Solondz is plotting his next darkly comedic film, and he found two perfect stars to lead it. Golden Globe nominees Elizabeth Olsen and Charles Melton will play lead roles in Solondz’s next feature Love Child.

Love Child will center on Misty, a woman stuck in a loveless marriage, who develops a strong connection with a handsome vagabond stranger, Easy. Her 11-year-old son Junior decides to get rid of his brutish father so his mother can be with Easy, but things turn disastrous when his plan backfires.

Solondz said that he’s “beyond excited to work with Elizabeth Olsen and Charles Melton on what will be a super fun and playful celebration of Hollywood movies.” Olsen echoed his statement, describing this collaboration as a dream come true because she’s been a fan of Solondz’s work for years.

Rocket Science will be handling international sales, while Cinetic Media and WME co-represent U.S. rights, and they’re joining forces with Killer Films, 2AM, Volition Media, and Gramercy Park Media to bring this film to EFM.

Olsen most recently starred in the HBO Max mini-series Love & Death, for which she received a Golden Globe nod. Melton is fresh off getting rave reviews for his performance in May and December, along with nominations for a Golden Globe Award and Critics Choice Award.
