Elton John Cancels Vegas Performances After Brief Hospitalization for Deadly Bacterial Infection

Elton John was forced to cancel his 2-month scheduled shows of The Million Dollar Piano at The Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas after being hospitalized for a serious bacterial infection, E! News reports.

According to Uproxx,  John’s rep released an official statement regarding the situation. “During his return flight home from Santiago, Chile, [John] became violently ill. Upon returning to the U.K., Elton’s doctors admitted him to hospital, where he underwent immediate treatment to remove the infection. After spending two nights in intensive care followed by an extended stay in hospital, Elton was released from hospital on Saturday, April 22, and is now comfortably resting at home per doctor’s advice.”

The legendary musician will be back on stage for his upcoming live performances in Twickenham, England, on Saturday, June 3.

“I am so fortunate to have the most incredible and loyal fans and apologize for disappointing them,” John said in the statement. “I am extremely grateful to the medical team for their excellence in looking after me so well.”

All ticket holders for the canceled shows are eligible for a refund, according to ET.
