The new Elton John biopic Rocketman has been a big hit with critics, but is it really accurate?
According to the legend himself, the movie is a true depiction of Elton John’s life and career. The colorful biopic gives us the downs as well as the ups and unapologetically leaves nothing out.
Speaking to The Daily Telegraph, John explained that it was important to him that the film didn’t try to glamorize his life. He wanted it to depict things exactly how they were.
He revealed: “This is how my life was, and I didn’t want to cover it and gloss it over. And it’s difficult to watch because I thought, ‘God, I don’t want to go back there. Thank God I came out of it’.”
He also added that the film’s depiction of how success affected him was accurate. He said: “Success was fantastic, and then I couldn’t cope with it. And you can’t leave out the bad.”
