Emma Roberts is no stranger to playing fierce, ambitious and edgy characters, and she’s getting ready to do it once again. The Scream Queens star has just been cast as the lead in a new Netflix original – skating drama Spinning Out.
According to the official synopsis, this ambitious project follows a competitive skater dealing with family issues and her own inner demons, as she struggles to revive her career. Roberts will portray an up-and-coming, high-level single skater Kat Baker, who’s trying to make a comeback after a disastrous fall took her off the competition track.
The young skater ends up being paired up with a talented bad-boy, but the duo has to face daunting odds, injuries, financial sacrifice, and potential mental breakdown on their way to realizing their Olympic dream.
Netflix has given a 10-episode order to this exciting project, created by Samantha Stratton, who just happens to be a former competitive figure skater. Spinning Out should start streaming on Netflix sometime next fall, but the official release date is yet to be set.
