Emma Thompson Receives Damehood and Makes Prince William Blush

Emma Thompson was honored at Buckingham Palace, given the title of Dame.

The ceremony took place on Wednesday, and the honor was given to the actress by Prince William. The Prince definitely got more than he bargained for as the 59-year-old got cheeky.

The Oscar, Golden Globe and Emmy-winning actress made the Duke of Cambridge blush when she asked the royal if she could kiss him.

”I love Prince William, I’ve known him since he was little, and we just sniggered at each other,” Thompson told The Daily Mail. “I said, ‘I can’t kiss you, can I?’ And he said, ‘No, don’t!'” She continued: “If you’re first up, you have to be more formal on such an occasion, but he’s looking wonderful and doing so well. He said, ‘This day isn’t about me, it’s about you.’”

Prince William isn’t the only royal Thompson is fond of. She said, “It’s really lovely because I’ve always loved the boys, and I’ve always been a long-term correspondent with their dad,” she said. “It’s a very lovely feeling.”

Thompson was accompanied by her husband Greg Wise, and their children, Gaia, 18, and Tindyebwa, 19, for the ceremony. She opted for an elegant blue suit and white sneakers for the regal occasion.

Congratulation, Dame Emma!
