Emmy 2020 Nominations: Did Your Favorites Make the List?

On Tuesday the nominations for the 72nd annual Emmy Awards were announced by Leslie Jones, Laverne Cox, Josh Gad, and Tatiana Maslany. Netflix came in hot with 160 nominations, making it the most of any streamer or network. Other standouts include HBO’s Watchmen earing 26 nominations, Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel earning 20 nominations, Netflix’s Ozark earning 18 nominations, and HBO’s Succession earning 18 nominations.

It’s also worth mentioning that Cate Blanchett, Lupita Nyong’o, Octavia Spencer, Anna Kendrick, and Zendaya celebrated their first-ever nominations.

Another surprise nomination was The Mandalorian, nominated for a Best Drama Series Award and some snubs that included Bob Odenkirk of Better Call Saul, Elisabeth Moss of The Handmaid’s Tale, and Reese Witherspoon, who had lead roles in three TV shows—Apple TV’s The Morning Show, HBO’s Big Little Lies, and Hulu’s Little Fires Everywhere.

The 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony will take place in September 21 and will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.
