Family of Amy Winehouse Working on Biopic

Amy Winehouse’ life is about to be transformed into an exciting biopic, that got a stamp of approval from her family. Relatives of the late singer will be executive producers of this promising project, that should start filming sometime next year.

Amy’s tragic life has already been a subject of a critically acclaimed documentary from 2015, but her father, Mitch Winehouse, wasn’t the biggest fan of this flick. He described it as a missed opportunity to celebrate her life and talent, but he’ll get a chance to fix that with the upcoming biopic.

Kinky Boots screenwriter Geoff Deane will be in charge of penning the script, with Alison Owen and Debra Hayward serving as producers. All proceeds will benefit the Amy Winehouse Foundation, which helps young people struggling with substance abuse. It’s still unclear who’ll play the late singer, but her father wouldn’t mind having a complete unknown on board as long as she’s capable of capturing Amy’s spirit.

“What we want is somebody to portray Amy in the way that she was – the funny, brilliant, charming and horrible person that she was. There’s no point really me making the film because I’m her dad. But to get the right people to do it, that’s very important, and we will,” concluded Winehouse.
