First “Mary Poppins Returns” trailer is released

Everyone’s favorite magical nanny is back!

Disney has just released the first official teaser trailer for Mary Poppins Returns and fans finally get to see a glimpse of Emily Blunt as Mary.

The 1964 critically acclaimed film starred Julie Andrews in the role of Mary Poppins. It received 13 Academy Award nominations and won 5 including Best Actress for Andrews.

The new film, like the original, is based on P.L. Travers’ books and it takes place 25 years after the first film, as Mary returns to London to visit grown-up Jane (Emily Mortimer) and Michael Banks (Ben Whishaw).

The film is directed by Rob Marshall (Into the Woods). In an interview with EW Marshall has said that all the people involved are committed to being as faithful and respectful to the iconic original as possible.

“The bar is so high for this but to be able to walk in the footsteps of this beautiful story about a woman who brings magic to this family that’s looking for wonder and hope and joy in their lives… I feel a great responsibility and reverence every day. We all feel it. We’re just lifting it up to get there with the right intentions behind it.”

Mary Poppins Returns will be in theaters Christmas 2018.
