First Trailer and Premiere Date for “Westworld” Season 2

It’s time to venture into Westworld.

Yesterday during Super Bowl LII, HBO released the first trailer for the second season of Westworld. Based on the 1973 film, Westworld, the television series is a science fiction western thriller which is set in a future where high-paying guests-can enter the western-themed amusement park and indulge in everything the park has to offer including prostitutes, adventures and killing people for sport – without fear of retaliation from the android hosts. This initial premise was true until the first season’s finale, where the ‘hosts’ led by Dolores Abernathy (Evan Rachel Wood) started retaliating against the human ‘guests.’

The series was a huge success for the cable television service, taking home Emmy Awards, Critic’s Choice Television Award and Satellite Awards.

After the shocking finale of season one, Fans have been wondering what is in store for the next season of the show. The trailer for Season 2 reveals that it picks up where season one left off, Dolores along with other hosts are rebelling against the ‘Hosts’ as well as the employees of the amusement park. During the entire trailer, we hear a monologue from Delores Abernathy that says “Look at this world. This beautiful world. We built this world together.” However, she adds that “this world is a lie. This world deserves to die. Because this is your world. We’ve lived by your rules long enough. We can save this world. We can burn it to the ground and from the ashes build a new world.”

In an interview with The Guardian, show runner Jonathan Nolan explained that Westworld is a “story of the origin of a new species on this planet” and this will be a huge theme in the next season.

The second season of Westworld will return on HBO on Sunday April 22nd, 2018.
