Florence Pugh, François Civil Honored with a Chopard Trophy Award

Cannes Film Festival is always accompanied with a series of star-studded events, including the Chopard Trophy Awards. The festival’s official sponsor uses this event to recognize promising rising stars, and they opted for Florence Pugh and François Civil this time around.

François Civil is one of the most beloved young actors in his home country of France, but the international audience also got to know him thanks to his roles in horror film As Above, So Below and black comedy Frank from 2014.

Florence Pugh got her big break in 2016, thanks to her sublime performance in Lady Macbeth. She received the British Independent Film Award for this film and went on to get a BAFTA Rising Star nomination.

Pugh is set to appear in period drama Little Women and stand-alone Black Widow movie. The Chopard Trophy Award gave her an opportunity to reflect on all the amazing things she’s already done.

“You are constantly moving forward and pushing yourself, so it’s really wonderful to have people recognize the work and force you to celebrate it in a sense. I think everyone in this industry forgets to do this, as we are all looking for what’s next,” said Pugh during the ceremony.
