Freddie Prinze Jr. has joined The CW’s Nancy Drew pilot.
According to Variety, Prinze is set to play Nancy’s father, Carson Drew, who is described as a dynamic attorney who has become estranged from Nancy following the recent death of his beloved wife. His attempts to reconnect with his daughter run aground when Nancy’s murder investigation reveals unsettling secrets from Carson’s own past.
Prinze joins the previously announced Leah Lewis, Tunji Kasim, Maddison Jaizani and Alex Saxon.
The pilot hails from CBS Television Studios and Fake Empire. Noga Landau, Melinda Hsu Taylor, Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage will all serve as writers as well as executive producers on the project. Set to direct is Larry Teng. Teng will executive produce the pilot along with Lis Rowinski.
This will be the third time CBS TV Studios has attempted to bring a series based the long-long-running series of mystery novels.
