“G.I. Joe” Sequel in Development at Paramount

Dwayne Johnson and Ray Park in "G.I. Joe: Retaliation"

The fourth installment in the film franchise based on the Hasbro action figure toy line is officially in the works.

Multiple outlets confirm that another G.I. Joe film is en route from Paramount Pictures. The announcement of a fourth installment comes a few months before the third movie in the franchise, Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins, premieres this October.

The film franchise was launched in 2009. The first two films, G.I. Joe: Retaliation and G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra grossed a combined $678 million at the worldwide box office.

Not much is known about the upcoming project, but according to Variety, the studio is in negotiations to tap the talents of writing duo Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse to pen the script.
