After several postponements in the face of the dual strikes in Hollywood, the Daytime Emmy Awards finally returned to LA this past week. The beloved soap opera General Hospital was crowned the biggest winner of the night after winning six awards, including outstanding drama series.

ABC’s long-running soap opera came into the night with 14 nods in the main field, and it managed to come out victorious in six categories. General Hospital faced tough competition in The Bay, The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of Our Lives, and The Young and the Restless, but eventually managed to defeat them all to win the award for outstanding drama series.

The stars of this series also had a big night at this year’s Daytime Emmy Awards. Robert Gossett, Eden McCoy, Alley Mills, and the late Sonya Eddy came out victorious in their respective categories, often beating their own co-stars to take the gold home.

Kelly Clarkson was also one of the biggest winners of the night, and she won awards for outstanding daytime talk series and outstanding daytime talk series host for The Kelly Clarkson Show. The People’s Court won the trophy for outstanding legal/courtroom program, while Entertainment Tonight was named the outstanding entertainment news series.

The 50th Daytime Emmy Awards were held on December 15, with Kevin Frazier and Nischelle Turner serving as hosts.
