Gillian Anderson Set to Join Season Four of “The Crown”

While Season Three of The Crown hasn’t even premiered yet, we have news of a Season Four casting. 

Multiple outlets report that Gillian Anderson, star of the acclaimed supernatural series The X-Files, has been tapped to star in Season 4 of Netflix’s British Monarchy drama.

Anderson has been cast as former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher aka the Iron Lady. Thatcher was Britain’s first-ever female Prime Minister and served between 1979 to 1990. While not much is known about the fourth season, this casting hits that the season will move into the 1980s. 

Season Three of The Crown begins in 1963 and stars Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth II, Tobias Menzies as Prince Philip,  Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret and Ben Daniels as Antony Armstrong-Jones. The character of Camilla Parker Bowles will also star in the forthcoming season.
