“Grey’s Anatomy” actress Jeanine Mason lands lead role in “Roswell” reboot

Jeanine Mason has been cast in CW’s upcoming Roswell reboot pilot.

Mason will play Liz Ortecho in the still untitled project which chronicles Ortecho’s unenthusiastic return to her tourist-trap hometown of Roswell, New Mexico. This is where the biomedical researcher will face the unexplainable.

Mason currently appeared in the recurring role of Dr. Sam Bello on ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy. She won the fifth season of So You Think You Can Dance in 2009, and appeared since then on various shows including NCIS: Los Angeles, Of Kings and Prophets, Criminal Minds, Major Crimes, and You’re the Worst.

The reboot will be based, as the original was, on Melinda Metz’s book series titled, Roswell High. Penning the script is Carina Adly MacKenzie who will also serve as executive producer. Directing the project is Julie Plec.

Deadline was the first to report the news.
