Grey’s Anatomy Season 15 Just Got Super-Sized

Grey’s Anatomy is going to make history this season.

ABC’s hit medical drama just got an additional episodes’ boost. The additional episodes were announced by the network Monday, January 7.

According to multiple reports, season 15 of Grey’s Anatomy has received an additional three episodes order, bringing the season’s total episode count to 25.

Season 15 marks the second-longest season in the series’ history, second to Season 2 run of 27. This season of Grey’s will also mark another milestone for the show — the second half of the season, Grey’s will surpass ER as the longest-running medical drama ever.

The midseason finale saw Grey Sloan Memorial dealing with a windstorm that left Meredith and Dr. DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti) stranded in an elevator.

Back in September, Gianniotti told Entertainment Tonight: “Last season, in the finale, they shared this drunken kiss. We didn’t know what it meant but there was something there. Meredith kind of pushed it off and it’s something we’ve been revisiting in this season. Definitely in the premiere you’re going to see it right out of the gate, which is basically what you saw in the trailer, but it’s going to be a little longer, a little bit more detailed. I think we’re going to see something blossoming between them: A friendship? A friendship that could be more? At the moment, we don’t know. … We are definitely building some romance, but to what degree, I don’t know.”

Grey’s Anatomy returns January 17.
