Halsey kick-started a new era with her chart-topping hit “Without Me”, and that was just the start. The music video for her new single “Nightmare” is here, and it’s one of her most honest and raw songs to date.
Halsey holds back no punches in this punk-inspired video, directed by Hannah Lux Davis. The 24-year-old singer used this song to capture the frustration of being a woman, and constantly being told how to behave. She wanted to encourage everyone to embrace their anger and rightful rage and dedicated this track to her fans who inspired her to write it in the first place.
“Imagine getting onstage every night and seeing young women sweating mascara tears, lightning in their eyes, throwing elbows and raising fists, screaming till the veins in their necks raise under warm skin, and not being inspired by it. This song is about you, for you,” Halsey wrote on Twitter.
