Harry Styles has decided to move on and out of the sea.
According to multiple sources, the Dunkirk star is no longer in talks to play Prince Eric in Disney’s live-action Little Mermaid.
Variety reports that “the initial reports about his casting were premature” and that Styles passed on the role amicably.
The feature helmed by Rob Marshall stars Halle Bailey as Ariel, the mermaid princess who dreams of being a human, and Melissa McCarthy as villainous Ursula. It is written by David Magee will feature the original songs from the 1989 animated classic, as well as new songs from original composer Alan Menken with lyrics by Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda.
