HBO Renews “Succession” for Season 2

HBO announced Monday that it has renewed Succession for a second season.

The news of the renewal comes just two episodes into the freshman drama first season.

Succession tells the story of a family that owns a media empire. While the show is fictional, one cannot ignore the Murdoch-esque vibe of the family behind the world’s biggest media conglomerates.

Succession was created by Jesse Armstrong, who also serves as executive producer alongside Adam McKay, Frank Rich, Kevin Messick, Will Ferrell, Jane Tranter and Mark Mylod. McKay also serves as show-runner and directed the pilot.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the first episode averaged 785,000 viewers, garnering a strong reaction from critics, averaging a 70 out of 100 on review aggregate Metacritic.

The first season of Succession stars Brian Cox, Jeremy Strong, Hiam Abbass, Sarah Snook, Kieran Culkin, Alan Ruck, Nicholas Braun, Matthew Macfadyen, Natalie Gold, Peter Friedman and Rob Yang.
