HBO Security Contractor: Hackers Stole “Thousands of Internal Documents”

According to Variety‘s report, a security company hired by HBO has informed the network that the hackers stole “thousands of [their] internal company documents”.

IP Echelon, the company frequently used by HBO to remove links to infringing material from Google, sent a DMCA take-down notice to the search engine to force them to remove the links to the leaked files. As they explained, hackers are responsible for “masses of copyrighted items including documents, images, videos and sound.”

News about HBO being hacked first spread Monday morning, when the hackers went to media to announce they had stolen episodes of Ballers, Insecure, and Room 104, as well as the script for the next episode of Game of Thrones, scheduled to air on August 6.
