Helena Bonham Carter to Play Princess Margaret in “The Crown”

Season 3 of Netflix’s The Crown brings with it interesting casting changes.

The streaming giant announced that Helena Bonham Carter has been chosen to play Princess Margaret, the Queen’s sister in the upcoming season. She is replacing Vanesa Kirby who portrayed Margaret in the first two season of the royal drama.

Bonham Carter, however, won’t play next to Claire Foy, as Netflix announced that replacing Foy as Queen is Olivia Colman.

These casting changes were to be expected as series creator Peter Morgan has previously said that in order to portray the characters as they age, the production intends to recast key cast members. Not confirmed yet is who would be cast as Prince Philip, the Queen’s husband in the series replacing actor Matt Smith.

While early production is said to be underway, seasons 3 and 4 of the Netflix series have yet to be officially ordered.
