High School Prom Date Lottery: To Promote ‘Inclusiveness’, Asking Girls to Prom Now Forbidden

An Illinois High School has introduced new rules, no longer allows the timeless and somewhat scary tradition to take place. Instead, partners will be assigned by a raffle.

Aquin High School in Freeport has the boys draw names (presumably out of a top hat). Then each of them is required to come up with a “creative skit” to use in order to ask their assigned date has to think of a creative skit to use to ask their date to the dance.

It’s not clear whether the quality of the skit matters, or whether the raffled ‘date’ must agree to the proposal skit, but the school’s officials say it’s a good way to make sure everyone feels included.
