“House of the Dragon”: “Game of Thrones” Prequel Reveals First-Look Photos

The prequel to Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon, has released its official first-look photos.

House of the Dragon is based on George R.R. Martin’s book Fire & Blood. It’s set a few hundred years prior to the events of Game of Thrones, and will feature the story of House Targaryen and the Targaryen civil war that became known as the “Dance of the Dragons”.

Starring in the series are Paddy Considine, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Matt Smith, Steve Toussaint, Rhys Ifans, Eve Best, Sonoya Mizuno, and Fabien Frankel.

D’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen and Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen, Toussaint as Lord Corlys Velaryon, and Cooke as Alicent Hightower and Ifans as Otto Hightower are featured in the photos.

The HBO series has been given a 10-epsiode order and its eying a 2022 debut.

Co-creating the series are Martin and Ryan Condal. Miguel Sapochnik and Condal are serving as co-showrunners and executive producers along with Martin and Vince Gerardis. Serving as writer and also executive producing is Sara Lee Hess. Ron Schmidt will also executive produce.

HBO and HBO Max are working on multiple series within the GOT universe including a series adaptation of Martin’s novellas Tales of Dunk and Egg.
