Hulu Orders “Sweet Tooth” Pilot

Sweet Tooth is the latest Vertigo property to be adapted to television.

Hulu has ordered a pilot based on the comic characters created for DC Vertigo by Jeff Lemire. The production is helmed by Team Downey’s Robert Downey Jr. and Susan Downey. Team Downey is producing the project with Warner Bros. TV.

Sweet Tooth is described as a coming-of-age drama, which centers on Gus, a boy/deer hybrid who leaves home to find the world ravaged by a cataclysmic event. He joins up with a ragtag family of hybrids and humans to find answers and winds up discovering a vast conspiracy that makes him question his very existence.

Jim Mickle (Hap and Leonard) has been tapped to write and direct the pilot. Team Downey is set to exec produce alongside Amanda Burrell and Linda Moran.

Should it go to series, the Sweet Tooth pilot will join other Vertigo property based productions including the CW’s iZombie, which is going into tis fifth and final season, Lucifer, and AMC’s Preacher.
