“Indiana Jones 5” Won’t Make its July 2020 Release Date

Variety reports that the fifth installment on the Indiana Jones’ franchise will not make its original release date.

With filming delayed, fans of the franchise, that was supposed to release the feature on July 10, 2020, will have to wait a little longer.

Sources close to the production say that shooting will no longer begin in April 2019 and will be pushed back by months, if not a year. This is most likely to creative disagreements over the script. Lawrence Kasdan has been tapped to pen a new draft.

The still-untitled film is still going forward, sources say, with Steven Spielberg on board to direct and Harrison Ford as everyone’s favorite adventurous archaeologist.

While Spielberg is fully committed to the project, he does have his plate full with other projects including a remake of West Side Story and reportedly a new historical drama, The Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara.

Ford most recently starred in Blade Runner 2049, and he’ll next lend his voice to The Secret Life of Pets 2.
