“Invisible Man” to Star Oliver Jackson-Cohen

Universal and Blumhouse’s The Invisible Man has found its lead.

Multiple outlets confirm that The Haunting of Hill House star Oliver Jackson-Cohen will play the title role in The Invisible Man.

He joins previously announced Elisabeth Moss, Aldis Hodge, Harriet Dyer, and Storm Reid.

The update on the classic Universal Pictures’ classic monster character is based on H. G. Wells’ science-fiction novel about a chemist who discovered the secret of invisibility while conducting a series of tests involving a drug called monocane.

“Throughout cinematic history, Universal’s classic monsters have been reinvented through the prism of each new filmmaker that brings these characters to life,” Peter Cramer, Universal’s President of Production, said in a statement. “We are excited to take a more managed approach for their return to the screen, shepherded by creators who have stories they are passionate to tell with them.”

Leigh Whannell will direct the thriller from his own script.

Shooting is set to being later this month in Australia for a March 13 release.
