J. Geils Band Leader Dead at 71

John Warren Geils Jr., the founder and leader of the J. Geils Band, was found death in his Massachusetts home on Tuesday. According to the police, there’s nothing suspicious about the death.

John’s band was a great success in the ’70s. Their first album was released in 1970, and it took 10 years to have a first big hit – Love Stinks. A year after that, their song Centerfold scored a number 1. The album Freeze Frame, on which Centerfold was featured, held the first place for 4 weeks and didn’t come off the charts for 70 weeks.

Geils was 71 years old.
