Jack Reacher is Coming To TV – Without Tom Cruise

Tom Cruise played the titular character in two movies in the Jack Reacher franchise, but it seems he won’t be coming back. Lee Child, the author of the novels the action flicks are based on, said Jack Reacher will continue its life on TV, with a new actor in the lead role.

Despite praising the actor’s acting chops, Child had to admit Cruise didn’t have the physicality to play the part. Fans of his novels often complained he was too short, and the author finally admitted they were onto something.

“I really enjoyed working with Cruise. He’s a really, really nice guy. We had a lot of fun. But ultimately the readers are right. The size of Reacher is really, really important and it’s a big component of who he is,” explained Child.

It’s still unclear where the potential show would be pitched, but the writer said he’s thinking about approaching Netflix and working on a long-form streaming series. Whatever happens in the end, one thing is for sure – Cruise will no longer be playing Jack Reacher, and Child is determined to find the perfect guy to fill his shoes.
