Jaime Camil to Star in CBS Comedy Pilot

A new Jaime Camil-led series from Jane the Virgin creator is in the works.

Multiple outlets report that CBS has ordered a comedy pilot starring Camil, who starred as Rogelio De La Vega on Jane. Camil will also executive produce alongside creator Jennie Snyder Urman.

The still-untitled multi-camera comedy follows a trust-fund baby whose money is cut off. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show centers the character as he’s cut off by his father. He and his wife move into her estranged sister’s condo in Reseda, forcing the two to reconnect.

The sitcom is penned by Alex Herschlag (Will & Grace). Exec producing alongside Camil are Sutton Street’s Joanna Klein, Propagate’s Ben Silverman, Guillermo Restrepo, Gonzalo Cilley and Maria Lucia Hernandez Frieri.

The fifth and final season of Jane the Virgin return next month. Jane creator, Urman, is also working on the spinoff Jane the Novela, with series star Gina Rodriguez.
