The popular role-playing video game The Division is getting its movie adaptation, and two amazing stars will be in charge of bringing it to life. Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Chastain landed the lead roles in this promising project.
This movie has been in the works for three years, but things finally started heating up after Netflix bosses decided to acquire the rights.
David Leitch, known for his work on Deadpool 2 and the upcoming Fast & Furious spin-off Hobbs & Shaw, will be in charge of directing this film.
According to its official synopsis, The Division takes place in the near future, where a pandemic virus is spread via paper money on Black Friday, decimating the city of New York and killing millions. Society has descended into chaos and a group of civilians, trained to operate in catastrophic times, are activated in an attempt to save who and what remains.
The Division was released in 2016, and it quickly became Ubisoft’s best-selling game and had the biggest first-week launch for a new game franchise after earning $330 million over the course of five days.
