Jake Gyllenhaal to Star In Remake of Danish Thriller “The Guilty”

Danish Oscar entry The Guilty will be getting a remake and the lead actor has already been tapped. Jake Gyllenhaal is set to star in the English version of this critically acclaimed suspense thriller.

The Guilty premiered at 2018 Sundance Film Festival to rave reviews and even won the World Cinema Audience Award. Denmark submitted it as their Best Foreign Language Film entry at the upcoming Academy Awards. The shortlist of nine titles is yet to be revealed, so we’ll have to wait until December 17 to see if it made the cut.

Jake Gyllenhaal will portray a police officer who was demoted to dispatch duty at an emergency call center. His life turns upside down after he answers a call from a kidnapped woman and must battle his inner demons in order to save her.

The Guilty isn’t the only promising project Gyllenhaal is attached to right now. He recently wrapped up filming Spider-Man: Far From Home and he’s set to start working on mystery thriller Rio, alongside Michelle Williams and Benedict Cumberbatch.
