James Corden Reveals How He Nearly Interrupted the Royal Wedding

There was never a better time to take an antihistamine.

The Late Late Show host James Cordon was one of the lucky few who got to see Prince Harry and Meghan Markle say their ‘I do’s’ at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor last week.

Cordon and Prince Harry have known each other for about seven years, and when the Carpool Karaoke host got his invitation he was absolutely honored.

A celebration of love the ceremony was absolutely heartfelt, and very luckily interruption free.

“It was one of the most beautiful ceremonies I’ve ever been to. It was gorgeous. It was a whole affair! It was happy, it was joyous and it was uplifting.”

But that wasn’t quite the impression the cameras caught live. “People were like, ‘Why are you so grumpy?’ What do you want me to be doing, like [rocking out]?” Corden said with a laugh. He is a Brit after all.

Cordon explained that the problem started when he realized the Chapel was filled with tons of flowers.

“There were flowers everywhere—the most beautiful flowers you’ve ever seen,” he said. “I get quite bad allergies if I’m in such close proximity to flowers, so for a lot of the ceremony I just needed to sneeze. I spent a lot of the time [about to sneeze].

The time to sneeze almost came at the most crucial moment of the day.

“Right at the point when the archbishop was saying, ‘If anyone knows of any reason…’ I was like, ‘Please don’t sneeze. Please don’t sneeze.’”

The ceremony went off without a hitch and with no complementary achoos!
