Janelle Monáe will take a little break from conquering the world of music to bring another empowering true story to life. She just joined the upcoming Gloria Steinem biopic, The Glorias: A Life on the Road.
This promising project will be based on Gloria Steinem’s best-selling memoir and will follow her incredible journey to become one of the most outspoken and influential women’s rights advocates in history.
Oscar winners Alicia Vikander and Julianne Moore will portray this feminist icon during different stages of her life. Breakout star Lulu Wilson (The Haunting of Hill House, Sharp Objects) also recently joined the project as young Gloria Steinem.
We’re yet to learn the name of Monáe’s character in this exciting biopic, but we’re pretty sure she’s going to do an amazing job. She got her film breakthrough in 2016 after starring in critically acclaimed dramas Hidden Figures and Moonlight. The singer-turned-actress took a little break from Hollywood to focus on music, but she’ll make her triumphant return in 2019 when she’s also set to star in Harriet Tubman biopic with Cynthia Erivo in the lead.
