Glastonbury Festival has been around for almost half a century, and it gained a reputation of the most influential event of its kind in the world. Headlining this legendary festival is one of the biggest honors any artist can receive – and Janelle Monáe will finally get to do it this year.
This R&B sensation performed at Glastonbury in the past, but she’s never been the main attraction. Co-organizer of the festival, Emily Eavis explained they decided to go with Janelle Monáe because her last Glastonbury show was truly incredible – even if you happened to watch it with the sound off.
Stormzy and Kylie Minogue were also announced as headliners at the festival, and it will be their first time ever taking on this huge responsibility. The Australian singer was supposed to do it back in 2005, but decided to pull out and focus on her health, after being diagnosed with breast cancer.
This year’s edition of this legendary event will be held at Worthy Farm between June 26 and June 30. The date of Monáe’s performance is yet to be confirmed.
