Jared Harris Joins Spider-Man Spinoff “Morbius”

The Morbius movie has just added another Jared to the mix.

Jared Harris has officially joined Jared Leto in Sony Studio’s Spider-Man spinoff, Morbius. The feature about the infamous Dr. Michael Morbius is one of the several projects currently in development based on characters from the Spider-Man comics.

The character of biochemist Dr. Michael Morbius was created by writer Roy Thomas and artist Gil Kane. Dr. Morbius first debuted in 1971’s The Amazing Spider-Man #101 issue. In the comics, he is a Nobel Prize-winning biochemist who is transformed into a vampire while attempting to cure a rare blood disease after treating himself with serum derived from bats.

Harris, whose role is being kept under wraps (as are all other roles, apart from Leto, who plays the titular villain).

Helmer Daniel Espinosa will direct from a script penned by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless.

Harris’ credits include television’s Mad Men and The Crown, as well as The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.
