Jason Momoa Already Has Ideas for Aquaman 2

While the Aquaman standalone movie is yet to hit the theaters, its lead star Jason Momoa is already hoping that he will get to reprise his role of Arthur Curry/Aquaman in the future sequel. While some would call this too optimistic, considering the lack of success of previous DC movies, Momoa is so confident in Aquaman’s success that he already has some ideas for Aquaman 2.

In a recent interview, Momoa revealed that he even started pitching those ideas, which he came up with during the filming of the first film, to producers and Warner Bros. executives.

“I definitely have an opinion. Even when we were shooting Aquaman, I have the opening of Aquaman 2 ready,” said the 39-year-old. “I went in and pitched it to [producer Peter] Safran, and I pitched it to [Warner Bros. chairman] Toby Emmerich. They loved it. It’s awesome… But yeah, I have plans for Aquaman 2.”

While it is great to see Jason Momoa being enthusiastic about Aquaman 2, Warner Bros. will first wait and see how the original movie does at the box office before making any decisions. The studio has been recently rethinking their entire strategy considering films based on DC comics heroes, which cause a delay of some previously announced projects.

It was recently announced that The Flash standalone movie, which was supposed to come out in early 2020, will now probably see its release in 2021 or even 2022. There is also no word on the release dates of Matt Reeves’ Batman movie, Cyborg standalone movie or Green Lantern Corps. movie.

Aquaman is scheduled to hit the theaters on December 21, 2018.
