Jenna Dewan to Star in New Musical Drama “Mixtape”

Netflix has confirmed to ET that Jenna Dewan is set to star as Joanna in a new musical drama, Mixtape. It explores “the love stories connecting a diverse, disparate group of people in contemporary Los Angeles through the music that lives inside their hearts and minds.”

The TV series is created by Josh Safran and executive produced by Safran alongside Megan Ellison, Sue Naegle, and Ali Krug. It also stars Revenge’s Madeleine Stowe, British actress, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, and La La Land star, Callie Hernandez.

Safran, who previously worked on Gossip Girl, Smash, and Quantico, took to Twitter on Monday to share his happiness for bringing Mixtape to life.

“It has been hard to keep this secret!” he tweeted. “How lucky to have something so unlikely as this happen. Never in my wildest dreams… (Also: there is nothing quite like making an episodic musical. I have missed it so much.)”

Netflix also posted additional details about the show on social media. The network has ordered 10 episodes for the first season.
