Jenna Ortega to Play Lead in Wednesday Addams Series

You star Jenna Ortega has been cast as the lead in Netflix’s Wednesday.

The live-action series centers around Wednesday Addams’ time as a student at Nevermore Academy where she masters her psychic abilities, stops a monstrous killing spree, and solves the supernatural mystery surrounding her parents 25 years ago.

Al Gough and Miles Millar created the series and serve as showrunners and executive producers.

Over the years, Wednesday Addams has been portrayed on screen many times with the original one being Lisa Loring playing the character in the 1960s Addams Family series. During the 1990s, Christina Ricci played the character in two films. Chloë Grace Moretz voices Wednesday in the animated films.

In addition to You, the actress is known for her TV roles in Richie Rich, Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous, Elena of Avalor, and Jane the Virgin. On the film side, Ortega has been in Insidious: Chapter 2, The Fallout, and The Babysitter: Killer Queen. Her latest role is in the upcoming Scream film.
