Jeremy Renner Joins Jamie Foxx in “Spawn”

Jeremy Renner has been tapped to star in Todd McFarlane’s directorial debut, Spawn, Blumhouse Productions’ adaptation of McFarlane’s comic book.

Renner will star opposite Jamie Foxx in the feature based on the comics drawn and written by McFarlane. Fox is set to portray Al Simmons, an agent whose should was sent to hell after he was betrayed and murdered. He makes a deal with a demon who allows him to return earth where he roams as a spawn of Hell. Reiner will play detective “Twitch” Williams, who becomes an unlikely ally to Foxx’s antihero.

This isn’t the first time the comic has been adapted for the big screen. In 1997 it was made into a film starring Michael Jai White.

The script is penned by McFarlane himself with Blumhouse’s Jason Blum producing.

Production is set to start this fall.
