E! News confirmed that Jesse Williams’ marriage to Aryn Drake-Lee has come to an end. The couple called it quits almost five years after they wed in September 2012.
According to court documents obtained by E! News, Williams filed for divorce and he is requesting joint legal and physical custody of their children, and to terminate Drake-Lee’s spousal support.
The Grey’s Anatomy actor and his wife have two kids together, 3-year-old daughter Sadie and nearly 2-year-old son Maceo. At the time of their son’s birth, a source told E! News that the pair was “really excited” to become parents once again, explaining, “This was something they really wanted.”
Williams and the real-estate broker were last spotted together in public last December 2015.
Jesse and Aryn first met when the actor was working as a schoolteacher in New York. They dated for more than five years before tying the knot.
“I was a teacher when I met her, so she’s been with me through all different facets of my career. She’s stuck with me through thick and thick and thick and thin,” he told USA Today in 2010.
“We know each other in and out, and she was very happy to move out here,” Jesse added, referring to their Los Angeles relocation. “She loves California and was tired of the weather on the East Coast.”
Jesse and Aryn introduced the “Ebroji” app together, a platform for curated GIFs in 2016.
The former couple has yet to give comment publicly on their reported divorce.
