Jesse Williams to Make His Broadway Debut

Grey’s Anatomy star Jesse Williams is making his Broadway debut.

Williams, who plays Dr. Jackson Avery on Grey’s, is making his way to the Broadway stage.

The 37-year-old actor is set to play the role of Darren Lemmin in next year’s Take Me Out revival.

The work by Richard Greenberg premiered in London in 2002. It made its Broadway debut the following year, starring Daniel Sunjata in the lead role. Next year’s production is set to debut under the direction of Scott Ellis at Second Stage’s Hayes Theater in New York.

The story follows Lemming, the star center fielder for the Yankees-like Empires who comes out of the closet as gay and deals with the consequences of teammate prejudice, damaged friendships and “the challenges of being a gay person of color within the confines of a classic American institution.

Take Me Out officially opens on April 23, 2020.
